An absolute must-read for fans of Gilmore Girls!Welcome to Whispers Wood, a cosy little village in the heart of the English countryside, where everybody knows everybody and rumours are spread thicker than jam on a scone…
When a rival village is awarded Best in Bloom, the residents of Whispers Wood are determined to regain their former glory – and with Old Man Isaac finally selling the clock house on the village green, with two potential buyers, operation ‘Summer Fete’ is on!
For Kate Somersby, the very bricks that make up the clock house hold precious memories of her childhood. Now she’s finally returned home after years of running away, she’s here to make Isaac an offer and ensure her and her beloved sister’s dreams come true. Only entrepreneur Daniel Westlake is standing in her way.
To prove they have the village’s interests at heart and in turn become the proud new owner of the clock house, Kate and Daniel must compete to raise funds for the Whispers Wood Summer Fete.
Well, this book not only cought my attention by the gorgeously colourful cover but also the clever reference to Gilmore Girls famous serial! I am a big Gilmore Girls fan, so naturally, I have to sample this book and hopefully the whole series eventually!
So The Little Clock House on the Green was my weekend book pick. I couldn't wait to immerse myself in Whispers Wood glory!
And when I came out for my breath I realised I had found another amazing author and my favourite book of this year so far! There had been such a fantastic publicity on social media surrounding the release of this book, and because I haven't previously read anything by Eve Devon I was very curious to read The Little Clock House on the Green and oh boy I am so glad I did!
I loved, loved, loved this story! When I finished the last page, I was left with a huge grin and happy reading Feeling ( you know the feeling when you are a bookworm!). The theme of this book has a slight feel of Gilmore Girls to it, but it is also sparkly, sizzling, emotive, captivating and utterly delicious all of its own and thanks to Eve Devon's fantastic writing style I was in for an amazing reading ride!
Kate Somersby runs away from the place that made her happy, but after a shocking accident, she felt like she needed to protect not only herself but also her beloved family. But as the years gone by Kate was missing her birthplace and when her cousin Juliet started to send her postcard with a lot of reference to the place that Kate hold dear in her heart. There was no stopping Kate to go back and mend some broken bridges.
As well as Kate, Daniel has decided to put his roots done in Whispers Wood. The village that stole his heart and made him feel confident about future again.
I absolutely adored Whispers Wood and its residents. This story is not only about Kate and Daniel it is a story about the whole community. I loved every single character in this book, and it was actually hard to leave them behind after I reach the end of the story ( but luckily I will have to wait only till the author when I am treated to another book in this series)!
The centre of the storyline is The Little Clock House on the Green that has been in Isaac family for generation. So when Old Man Isaac decides to sell it, and not one but two interested buyers appear on the scene, Old Man Isaac has a great idea that will not only boost the falling spirit of Whisper Woods but will also bring the whole community much needed fresh start.
Eve Devon managed to build a very refreshing and engaging storyline! The dialogues between the characters are fast paced, sparkly and witty. The setting of the book is picturesque and idyllic. There is plenty of romance in the air, and the whole feel of this book heighten the strong sense of belonging and new happy beginnings beautifully. Just a magical read!
