From the moment I opened up this book, I fell under the spell of Paige Toon's captivating writing style. I have previously read one of the author's books, but now I am going to make a sure I won't miss out on any of her books.
You know the feeling when you stumbled upon something very magical that is what happened when I met Bridget and was invited on the journey of her life as she is trying to collect all the pieces of her heart she had given away from the time she first falls in love. Now Bridget is on the brink of putting the pieces together to make a complete puzzle of her love life.
A successful travel journalist, Bridget has ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog about the missing pieces of her heart into a book. But after a spate of rejections from publishers, she accepts an alternative proposition.
Nicole Dupré died leaving behind a bestselling novel and an incomplete sequel. Tasked with finishing the book, Bridget is thankful to have her foot in the publishing door, even if it means relocating to Cornwall for the summer and answering to Nicole's grieving husband, Charlie...
I so love to follow Bridget story and find myself utterly bonded with this fun, funny, witty and creative person. When Bridget landed her a brand new job as a ghostwriter, she would not imagine that this new chapter in her life will leave her wanted more that could be possible. Her view on life slowly changed as she found herself embracing her new role.
Charlie is grieving the unexpected passing of his young wife, Nicki . Nicki not only left behind her husband and young daughter April but also an unfinished sequel to her bestselling book. When Bridget is summon down to research the author's life and finished writing the novel Charlie finds himself laughing and enjoy every day in Bridget's company.
Every character in this story has an important role, a role in creating something appealing and compelling. I couldn't go past mentioning the hilarious Adam, Charlie's welcoming mother Pat and all the happy Cornish people. I found myself sitting on the edge of the sofa when I read the scenes of Nicki's family meeting Bridget for the first time!
Whether it was Cornwall, London or Thailand I couldn't wait to discover if Bridget will find the last piece of her heart.
The whole theme of the book heightens a sense of belonging and new beginnings allowing smaller pieces of stories within the book to form a complete puzzle.
Paige Toon is an exceptional storyteller her talent shines through every page of this book.
The Last Piece of My Heart is a phenomenal read that will stay with me for a very long time.
