Wildflower Bay by Rachael Lucas
Format: paperback (352 pages)
Published: August 11, 2016
Isla's got her dream job as head stylist at the most exclusive salon in Edinburgh. The fact that she's been so single-minded in her career that she's forgotten to have a life has completely passed her by - until disaster strikes.
Out of options, she heads to the remote island of Auchenmor to help out her aunt who is in desperate need of an extra pair of scissors at her salon.
A native to the island, Finn is thirty-five and reality has just hit him hard. His best friends are about to have a baby and everything is changing. When into his life walks Isla . . .
My honest thoughts on this book:
I have read Rachael's previous book Coming Up Roses, and I must say I really like her easy-flowing and captivating writing style. They way she develops her characters and turns them into almost real people that take us on an unexpected adventure - this time to a remote island off Scotland.
In the beginning, Isla had a plan but that plan quickly turn to dust and with only one option left to her Isla is packing a back and heading to Auchenmor. She thinks this adventure will be a very brief one with nothing exciting to do on the island, but Isla didn't count on a lovely bunch of residents to keep her on her toes and make her perhaps even fall in love with the island?
When reading this book, I quickly became a huge fan of Isla, Finn and the fabulous Ruth who just couldn't help but meddled in the name of love! I also adored Shannon and Jinny and the way they look up to Isla and her handy work with scissors. Isla on the other hand slowly blended with the island crowd and stared to enjoy herself with Finn's help, of course!
This book has been on my TBR pile for a couple of months, and I am very please to finally read it before the Christmas books take over my reading life!
Wildflower Bay is beautifully crafted book with gorgeous scenery and charming characters that tuck at your heartstrings and make you laugh at the same time.
Happy weekend reading! xo
