Christmas at the Little Village Bakery by Tilly Tennant
Millie is run off her feet with Christmas orders at the Little Village Bakery and new baby Oscar. Thank goodness her cousin Darcie is here to help her. Although she does seem to be rather flirty with Millie’s boyfriend Dylan.
Will Darcie ever find true love of her own? And is marrying Tori a terrible mistake for Spencer if his heart is with someone else?
My honest thoughts on this book:
What a wonderful Christmas treat is this book! Although I haven't read the previous book in The Honeybourne series, it didn't matter to me because I enjoyed getting to know the lovely characters living in Honeybourne village. Christmas in the Little Village bakery can be read as a stand alone but maybe for more reading enjoyment pick up the first book and immerse yourself fully in Honeybourne daily fun, gossip and dramas.
In this second instalment, we meet Tori ( Spencer's girlfriend ) who travelled all the way from America to spend the Christmas holiday with Spencer's family and friends. Tori quickly dives into the village life and seem to get on with everyone. I adored Tori from the beginning and felt for her when she and Spencer face some tough dilemmas of future living arrangments. But first of all Tori and Spencer has to jump through other obstacles - meeting each other's perspective in-laws and let me tell you it is certainly not an easy task!
While Spencer's parents are quite jovial and easy to get on ( when they had a few down the local pub) Tori's lot is an entirely different matter. I dislike the way Tori's parents behave on their visit to the village and could see the arguments coming from the far. Tori's parents made the Christmas holiday for Tori and Spencer a little less merry. And add some personal demons Spencer was battling through when he met up with Jasmine, and we are in for a bumpy but very entertaining ride.
I literary flew through the pages of this book and wished so much that Spencer and Tori would stand up to their parents and sort out their mess very quickly. I loved all the colourful characters that were jumping out of the pages and pulling me inside their stories.
Tilly Tennant has a brilliant writing style that is oozing with exciting plotlines and very well developed and complex characters that you can help falling in love with. I highly recommend you to go and grab a copy of this Christmas treat.
