My honest thoughts about this book:
Yay! Who doesn't love a delicious piece of a great romance? From the moment my eyes landed on this gorgeous book cover, I knew I will be in for a treat with the first book in this new series by Jane Linfoot.
When I started this book the only question on my mind was: "Where have you been all my reading life Jane Linfoot?" I am Jane's newest book addict. From the first page of The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, I was utterly taken by the author's light yet thoroughly engaging writing style. Jane managed to balance the love and fun emotions beautifully with the heartbreak and frustration of all the characters in a way that my eyes literary flutter from page to page.
The first book in the series introduces us to Poppy, the fiery baker, who is still recovering from a heartbreak by baking the most fantastic and delectable creation in her friends/boss attics. Poppy is a part of The Little Wedding Shop team and with Jess and Sara, they are certainly a savvy threesome. But Poppy think she can't hide in Jesse's attic forever so she is on a mission to find herself a new job and as you would have it, one of her all time besties Immie may just have been able to help her out.
The beautiful Daisy Hill Farm is in a dire situation, looking for an organised Events Manager and it seems that Poppy is the right person not only to bring the chaotic weddings back on track but also to help out her other besties in organising the best wedding day for her! Not much to ask! There is just one teeny problem, Rafe, the owner of Daisy Hill Farm, is rather hard to deal with on daily basis and Poppy needs a quick plan to get him on board with the wedding business.
I love this duo, Poppy and Rafe! They had an instant connection and fiery attraction but they are both incredibly stubborn and sometimes unmovable. I love the way Poppy came to the rustic farm and waved her savvy wand around, putting everything to the right and creating a fantastic business opportunity for Rafe and even though Rafe is a grumpy farmer he is very quickly realising what a gift Poppy is for him and his farm.
The supporting charters were equally brilliant, Cate, Immie, Jess and Sara had their own little stories to tell ( and I hope we will hear more about them in the second and third instalment in this series). The girls were a great support for Poppy adding a fantastic dimension to her story as well as creating some hilarious scenes throughout the book.
Location, location, location! I love the setting of The Little Shop by the Sea and particular the Daisy Hill Farm. So detailed were the descriptions of this setting that it made swoon and dream about having my own farm ( omitting the hard farm labour)
What a fabulous opening to this series! Cupcakes and Confetti are oozing with warm and down-to-earth characters and fast-paced and witty storyline. The cherry on this literary cake is the charming location that will leave you with a gooey feeling of happiness. Just my kind of a read!
