Christie Chapman is a single working mother who spends her days commuting to her secretarial job in London and looking after her teenage son, Finn. It can be tough just getting through the day but Christie has always found comfort in her love of crafting and any spare time she has is spent in her parents' summerhouse working on her beautiful creations. From intricately designed birthday cards to personalised gifts, Christie's flair for the handmade knows no bounds and it's not long before opportunity comes knocking. All of a sudden Christie sees a different future for her and Finn - one full of hope and possibility, and if the handsome Max Alexander is to be believed, one full of love too. It's all there for the taking.
And then, all of sudden, Christie's world is turned upside down.
Christie knows that something has to give, but what will she choose? Will she give up her dreams and the chance of real love? What price will she pay for doing the right thing? Can Christie find her happy ending in . . . Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses.
My thoughts on this book...
There is one word that truly describes this book...Uplifting! I adore its comfortable, heartwarming and so delightful feel from the first page to the last one.
And that is precisely why I love Carole Matthews books! She always manages to capture my heart with her stories and gives me the feel like everything is possible and we all can make our dreams come true!
Christie Chapman is a single mother with big dreams. She has a fabulous teenage boy called Finn, who has determined, very grown up and witty personality. Aside from Finn, Christie has parents who help her bring up Finn and pander to every of their needs in the nicest possible way!
It was lovely to see how Christie wanted to make a better future for herself and her son. And although she had an excellent job in the city the daily commuting was proving quite a hardship for a busy mother, so when an incredible opportunity revealed itself, Christie jumped at the chance to do something she actually loved.
The whole setting of this book is fabulously inspiring and focuses on bringing positivity to everyday life. And add the swoon-worthy description of all the crafting goodies! There are no bound for imagination left behind! I loved Christie's bubbly and creative personality, and it was fantastic to see her experience the life-changing events that brought happiness but also fear into her path.
I mustn't forget to mention the supporting cast of charming characters, Finn, Christie's parents and Max Alexander and Sheridan Singleton all added their delightful touch and certain spark to the storyline.
